    Description

A key ring/key chain fob with 2 carved turtles made by Jeremy Violette, a young Penobscot carver.  This is a  carved section of a small branch.  Chip carving is traditional to the Penobscot - here Jeremy has creatively used chip carved triangles around the outer edge of each turtle's shell and then painted the triangles white to contrast w/the dark wood.
The wooden "fob" is  2.25" long and about 5/8" in diameter.  The key ring is 1/2" in diameter
This is a nice small example of chip carving - and will help you keep track of your keys!
THIS COULD ALSO BE USED AS A PENDENT -  if you intend to use this as such and request it when you purchase, I will include a leather strip to make it into a necklace.
Wood carving is a traditional art form that the Penobscots were using prior to European contact. Jeremy Violette is the youngest Penobscot chip carver that I know of.  Jeremy also does traditional chip carving - and chip carvers are few, it is great to see a new addition to this age old craft
