antique vintage skimmer boater straw Penney's Marathon 1950's James H Floyd

Description

Vintage / antique 1950's era JC Penny Marathon brand boater straw hat.  Natural color with black band that has fine gray stripe.  You get the prominent envelope with the hat.
Very nice with only one exception is staining on inner lining - which can be removed if so inclined (see last pic).  No foul odors.  Non smoker.
Estate sale find (not his estate sale but someone else who owned and preserved this hat).  Previous owner was a Quartermaster of Veterans of Foreign Wars (see next to last pic).  James H. Floyd nicknamed "Sloppy" the previous owner has a state park named after him in his honor in Summerville, GA.  There is also a 20 story veterans memorial building twin towers in downtown Atlanta named in his honor.  He also was a Georgia House of Representative for 22 years.  One of the pictures contains more details about Sloppy.

Inside dimensions:  8.25" L x 6.75" W
Brim dimensions:  13" L x 11.25" W.  Brim extends 2.25" around hat.
