  • Condition: This piece is in exceptionally nice condition and actually shows no sign of ever being worn. If it has it has only one or two times. There is absolutely no staining to the leather headband and no sign of any marking or wear to the felt cap or to the outside band. Please look over the photos and let me know of any questions.

    Description

    VERY RARE, ORIGINAL, EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION, AND SEEMINGLY NEVER WORN. A TRUE COLLECTOR’S PIECE!
    This is an original, early antique Homburg, or early Fedora hat, made by John B. Stetson. This piece has the mark used between 1900-1920, and has a “Select Quality” imprint on the mark, which was only used for their highest quality hats. The hat is fully signed on the leather sweat band, as well as imprinted on the inside of the top, as pictured. This piece has the original size tag, being 7 1/8”, as well as the inventory tag for the retailer of Croll & Keck of Reading, PA, and their imprint opposite the Stetson mark on the leather sweat band. The fur felt is black, with an approximately 2.5” brim, and a 2 1/8" hatband with unusual pleated/folded "bow" on side. More commonly, and typically, these have a flat bow.
