Description
Offered is a rare bronze sculpture by the renowned Hopi artist, Dan Namingha (b. 1950). Titled "Morning Kachina" this bronze is in excellent condition and is number 8 of an edition of 12. Dimensions, without the wood base, are: 10.5 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide by 3 inches deep. The backside is fully signed, foundry hallmarked, and dated 1975. The morning kachina will appear on rooftops and sings to wake up everyone.Dan Namingha studied at the University of Kansas, the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, as well as the American Academy of Art in Chicago. In 2009 he received an honorary Doctorate from the Institute of the American Indian Arts. His Hopi heritage is his inspiration for creativity and subjects. Dan's great great grandmother is "Nampeyo" and his mother is Dextra Quotskuyva. His art is considered to be modern minimalism. Dan Namingha is the preeminent southwest artist of today.
