    Description

This is a cottonwood Bark Wall Hanging/Wall Sculpture Hand Sanded, Hand Carved, Hand Painted (Acrylic Paint), Wood Burn Highlights, stained with oil and Krylon Spray to protect paint and carving.  The piece measures: 4' 1" L (49 inches) x 5 1/2" W x 3" D and weights approximately 2-3 lbs.  This cottonwood sculpture was finished March 15, 2021 and signed on the same day, in the back, the signature is wood burned and is the true and authentic signature of this artist, Jacob N. Warner, Old Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico.  The title of this piece is also wood burn on the back, "Old Laguna Rain Dancers N Mission", Jacob N. Warner.  The Rain Dancers have their own story, but they symbolize rain and you will see various water/rain symbols hand painted throughout the carving.  You will also see the Mission both in the carving and the artist signature.  The significance is the artist hung out at the Mission  growing up and it is a memory he is sharing with others about himself.  The Rain Dancers are in the clouds above the Mission and the Village, again memories the artist is sharing.  The pottery you see throughout the cottonwood sculpture is also a memory and reminder of the women who raised him.  They were potters, these are his personal memories and his way of recording the Laguna pottery designs.  He does not see the craft being passed down; this is his way of preserving his past both for himself and his village.  But first and foremost, this artist will tell you he likes to share.  He wants his stories to have happy endings and if it were not for his faith in Jesus Christ he would not have this gift or the ability to share his art with others.  This is a story in itself.  The cottonwood is from Co. brought to him by a friend and he really likes the feel of this wood, you can see this in this carving.  We include a professional Bio on the artist and this is the buyers provenance along with this write up.  We purchase direct from Jacob and he is in studio in Show Low, AZ. with us.  We ship in 1 business day, signature confirmation, FREE SHIPPING
