Description
Proudly offered for sale, is a rare casting by Creek Indian Artist,Mecco Lewis
and acquired new in 1974. Monrovia Specialty Collectors has gone to great lengths to find another casting like this for the last 20 years.
This Native American Indian figurine is entitled
"The Dying Warrior,"
which is the story about Warriors who protected their tribes and died of anguish, because there was no protection against the white man's bullets in battle.
Mekko Lewis, is a Creek Indian from Eufaula, Oklahoma and a self-taught artist. He created the model in clay when he was seventeen. The bronze cast was made in 1974 by the Turkey Tracts Foundry of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The stature is accompanied by the original owners information on the art (a renowned psychiatrist and art collector from Pasadena, California) and as mentioned above MSC has studied this extensively also trying to determine if the Creek Nation was aligned with the Muscogee Creek people. If anyone can provide more information on this subject, we would truly enjoy and appreciate it. Thank you for taking a look at this offering!
