A genuine vintage Victorian Trade Card, copyright 1892 by the Singer Manufacturing Company. These trade Cards represent Singer's Native employees in other countries wearing their usual costumes. Size is 5 1/4" x 3 1/8".
The condition of this piece of ephemera is, as seen; always note corners and edges for possible wear. As grading is subjective, please look at scan for faults/defects. I will ship first class postage in a regular envelope in a hard protective plastic sleeve.
Victorian trade card material serves as a historical record of the past and takes us back to a time that seems somehow simpler and less complex than today. Today's interest in old advertising is but a step back into the way our ancestors viewed their world around them and their attempts to mix beauty with necessity in their everyday lives. Beautifully embossed images of rosy cheeked children extolled the virtues of ordinary foodstuffs and household products as well as other fanciful depictions. Advertising ranging from "Snake Oil" medicine products to parlor stoves can be be found on these fascinating pieces, most free "give-aways". Offered in my listings are the genuine old trade cards, some carefully removed from the pages of scrapbooks, circa 1880 - 1910. With these nostalgic bits of history, take a trip into the past!
