    Description

Wooden Native American Carved Navajo Dine Folk Art Chickens L Herb Lulu Herbert
3 Wooden Native American Carved Navajo Dine Folk Art Chickens L Herb Lulu Herbert
Available is this charming set of carved Navajo chickens.  They are hand carved and painted with fun designs in a light weight wood, likely pine or cottonwood.  Two of them are 9 inches tall and the smaller one measures 6.5 inches not including the straw tail.  Each is signed “L Herb”.   Possibly for either Les or Lulu Herbert?  Sweet and lots of personality in these.  In good condition, they show normal wear and age, with some bending to the straw tails.
    From an online bio:
Lulu's late father, Woody Herbert, began carving folk art animals in the 1980s. His children and their spouses soon joined him. Lulu and her husband, Wilford Yazzie, are known for their chickens and ravens. Lulu's sister, Edith Herbert John and her husband, Guy John, carve chickens, owls and pigs. Lulu's brother, Leslie Herbert, carves turkeys, skunks and coyote.
